Top 8 New Technology Trends That Will Reform Businesses in 2020

2020-Technology trends

In this age governed by technology and digitalization, businesses across the world are looking for new ways to utilize technology to reinforce their position in the market. Here are some of the new technologies that are set to change businesses in 2020.

Artificial Intelligence (AI)

Artificial Intelligence, or AI, has received a lot of hype over the past few years, but it remains a phenomenon to follow as its impact on how we live, work and play are only in the early stages. Furthermore, we’ve established other AI types, including Machine Learning, which we’ll go into below. AI applies to computer systems that are programmed to mimic human intelligence and perform tasks such as image recognition, speech or patterns, and decision making.

AI is one aspect of what we commonly call automation, and because of potential job losses, automation is a hot topic. Experts say that by 2030 automation would destroy more than 73 million jobs. Jobs in development, programming, testing, support and maintenance will be developed, to name a few. One of these positions is the architect of artificial intelligence. Some say it will soon rival data scientist in need for skilled professionals. Learn about building a career in AI or why you should earn an AI credential to
learn more about potential jobs in AI.

Machine Learning

Machine Learning is an AI subset. Computers are programmed to learn to do something they are not programmed to do with Machine Learning: they learn by finding patterns and insights from results. Generally speaking, we have two ways of learning, controlled and not monitored.

Although Machine Learning is an AI subset, we also have Machine Learning subsets, including neural networks, natural language processing (NLP) and deep learning.

The rapid deployment of machine learning in all kinds of industries creates a huge demand for skilled professionals. It is estimated that the demand for machine learning will rise to $8.81 billion by 2022. For data analytics, data mining and pattern recognition, machine learning algorithms are used. On the consumer end, web search results, real-time ads and network intrusion detection are driven by Machine Learning, to name only a few of the many tasks it can do.

Robotic Process Automation or RPA

The technology that automates work is Robotic Process Automation or RPA. RPA is the use of software to automate business processes such as application analysis, transaction processing, data processing, and even email response. RPA automates repetitive tasks that people used to do.
These are not just a low-paid worker’s menial tasks: it is possible to automate to 45% of the jobs we do, including the work of the financial managers, doctors and CEOs.

Edge Computing

Cloud computing was once a technology phenomenon to follow, with major players dominating the market, including AWS (Amazon Web Services), Microsoft Azure, and Google Cloud. Cloud computing adoption continues to grow as more and more organizations move to a cloud solution. But it’s not the emerging technology anymore.

Edge computing is designed to help solve some of these problems as a way to bypass cloud computing latency and get data for processing to a data center. If you like, it may live “on the edge” closer to where computing needs to occur. For this purpose, with minimal or no access to centralized locations, edge computing can be used to process time-sensitive data in remote locations. Edge computing will function as mini data centers in those circumstances.

Virtual Reality and Augmented Reality

Virtual Reality (VR) improves the user’s experience while Augment Reality (AR) enhances the atmosphere. Although VR has been used mainly for gaming up to now, it has also been used for training, as with VirtualShip, a simulation platform used to train U.S. Navy, Army and Coast Guard ship captains. The popular Pokemon Go is an example of AR.

In training, entertainment, education, marketing, and even after injury recovery, both VR and AR have enormous potential. Or, as with this Pepsi Max bus shelter, could be used to train doctors to do surgery, give museum guests a deeper experience, boost theme parks, or even improve marketing.

Blockchain

While most people think of blockchain technology in relation to cryptocurrencies like Bitcoin, blockchain provides security that is useful in many other ways. This is why the word “chain” is used because you are
building a data chain. What makes it so safe is not being able to change the previous blocks. In addition, blockchains are consensus-driven, so no one entity can take control of the data. With blockchain, you don’t need a trusted third-party to oversee or validate transactions.

Internet of Things (IoT)

Through WiFi connectivity, several “things” are now being installed, meaning they can be linked to the Internet — and to each other. Therefore, the Internet of Things or IoT is the future and has already made it possible to communicate and exchange data over the Web with computers, home appliances, cars and much more. And we are only in the early stages of IoT: by 2020 it is estimated the number of IoT devices reached 8.4 billion in 2017 will exceed 30 billion devices.

Cybersecurity

Cybersecurity may not seem like emerging technology, because it’s been around for a while, but it’s changing just like other technologies. That’s partially because there are always new threats. The malevolent hackers who are trying to access data illegally will not give up in the near future and will continue to find ways to get through even the toughest security measures. It is also partially due to the introduction of new technology to improve security. Cybersecurity will be an emerging technology and will grow continuously to protect against hackers who are considered as a threat.
